Major Groups-led Initiative in Support of UNFF
Date: 13-17 June, 2012
Venue: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
As part of their efforts to contribute to sustainable forest management discussions under the auspices of United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF), Major Groups participating in the UNFF process are organizing an international workshop in support of UNFF on the theme: Forests and Economic Development: Positioning Forests to Contribute to Green Economy.
The workshop will take place from 13-17 June, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is being hosted by the Government of Brazil with generous financial contribution from the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture (BMELV). The workshop is being coordinated by Canadian Environmental Network with the support of UNFF Secretariat, International Union of Forest Research Organizations and International Tropical Timber Organization. The workshop will be conducted in English.
The workshop will have the following key outputs:
1. Policy recommendations for UNFF10 session in Istanbul, Turkey in 2013.
2. Report for presentation in a side event during Rio+20 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil taking
place from 20-22 June, 2012.
